Don't know if I agree with you though. What would have lurking there? I wasn't going for a Hallowen vibe and guns/swords etc are banned here, believe it or not.
In theory, you're supposed to focus on her because she's in the 'corner'. Then you notice the PLO scarf and the camo trousers. And everything else is black... i.e. devoid of anything (incl hope).
And if you believe that, I've got the Brooklyn Bridge for sale at a good price

What struck me first was the bold confidence of the model set starkly against a background void of anything. But then I started thinking that it might be interesting to have a suggestion of something that bound the two images together. The upfront, no messing, cards on the table attitude of the model on the one hand and the colourless empty vacumn on the other.
Or actually, now that Ive thought of it, maybe thats the point. The viewer crosses their own bridge between the two ... either way its still a great photo.
