Peoples Photography (Dublin)
Posted On 29/08/2008 21:59:49 by Presence

Peoples Photography is taking place this weekend around St Stephens Green in Dublin.  It's an opportunity to display your photos to the general public and, maybe, make a few sales.  It's a bit of craic if you get the weather.  Obviously, it's not a 'proper' exhibition since the passers-by are tourists and couples out for a Sunday stroll.

My pitch is 359 on the Leeson St/East side of St Stephens Green.  I was going to make a joke that f32 members get a discount but, since it's pile em high, sell them cheap, anyone would says they're from f32 gets a free print. It would be good to put faces to names...

This was my best-seller last year.  I was quite surprised myself but one of these ended up framed and sitting in a very posh house around Leeson Street.

But I think this might do well this year with ladies on a Sunday stroll with their partners.

Hi Sean,

Thanks, it wasn't too bad.  I thought it was a bit quieter than previous years.  The bad weather and fewer tourists didn't help.  There were quite a few photographers who didn't turn up so there was a bit of hasty gap-plugging on day 2.

On the plus side, the Basque (not Spanish, mind you) lady beside me fed her neighbours with sweets and so on.

This photo was the most popular.  I had it too low on the first day and every child ran up, took their hand out of their crisps bag and smeared their greasy fingers all over it.  Luckily, it was only a display and I had clean ones in my bag.
