Kira,

not being top 50 doesn't mean you can't pose ;)

Oh i love it!!!

Just to add, it was Ines van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin who shot this ad campaign.

And the models are TOP (top 50) models so that is why their poses are so fantastic!

Love the shoes!! Heehee!

Lighting wise there is nothing special going on here, and a small team of people could easily make this happen. That's part of why I posted it.

Looking at the light, it's one large source from a distance. A bare octabox from distance would do this easily, but would require probably 1 2,400 pack and head (rather than a monobloc).

The posing is far from the standard you see on most model sites, because the model's are incredibly self aware and have no fear of what they look like, giving rise to stunning poses. There's no sense of 'what will my friends think' leading to experimental looks and shapes. Great!

Don't be down in the dumps. It doesn't take a huge team,  but it all depends on motive. If a bunch of people are in for the good, then it can cost very little to get shots like these.

I didn't find who shot these, but I did find this: http://frillr.com/

Well said Thorsten!  And I agree 100%

The secret is imagination, preparation, lighting, set design, stylist, make up artist, hair stylist, model and photographer/s...and digital artist...I am sure many more.....there are the equivalent of all on folio in some form or another.

Of course one of the motivating factors in the Gucci campaign is that every single person is on a sizeable financial return and guaranteed budget.

I would stake a few bob that a team could be put together from folio members that could deliver the same.

Your talking team work here though not a single person knowing everything.......a recent campaign for a well know local drink company had 15 in the team....each dedicated to their craft. The budget was well up in the six figures.

This level of work should inspire more collaboration between people.....creatively.

This depresses me as I can only dream of shoots like this! it's stuff like this that makes me aspire to be a better model so that maybe one day (in my dreams) I could have the opportunity to work with the wonderful talented people out there who can produce such cracker images like these. I would give my right arm to be given the opportunity to work on a set of images such as these & sometimes I get really annoyed on here as there are so many silly girls who don't give a damn about what they do or the images they produce, they just want their £25 an hour & the right to tell their friends they are 'a model'.
I've been at this for 2years & I've worked my ass off to get some quality images- most of my best were done tfp so that I can qualify in my own right as 'a model'.

Absolutley amazing shots, and I'm sure that given the resources & funds folio32 members could achieve high quality stuff like this. Not everyone though, including models as I can only think of maybe 5 tops who could pull it off. Togs I have a few ideas of who could achieve high quality work like this but I'm no expert on that area so no right to judge!

Fantastic images,

I always wonder who takes the credit for the big shoot final image, what is for certain, many people had input into this, the photographer was picked for his talent but who came up with the location and final look of models, having watched many programmes on location shoots its clear that it takes alot of money and ppl on the ground and in print houses to produce images like these,

Could some of the Photographers on Folio create work like this given the resources? definately!!

There are lessons for photographers in every image we look at if we take a close look.

Models should take Inspiration
from images like these, they should question whether they are fully prepared for every shoot they do, there are many wonderful models on folio who come fully prepared for their shoots, but there are many who arrive with photographers totally unprepared, they think its a free shoot so don't make the most of the experience, they then wonder why they dont get any work, photographers do talk, Models who put the most into a shoot will get the best images from any given photographer,

Personally I would love to be full time and have the client list and talent to produce great images like these, but as that will never happen, I'll take inspiration from where ever I can,

Thanks for posting.

Tim

Great find Sean, thanks for posting. Definitely something there worth thinking about. Any idea who shot it? The first thought that came into my mind was Michael Grecco, but on second look I'm not so sure.

I disagree entirely. There isn't anything in those images which with a bit of flair and imagination, is beyond any photographer here if they put their minds to it!
