Happy Birthday to me....?
Posted On 31/05/2008 14:07:28 by Raveness

Birthdays may be milestones, a marker or indication of some thing truly changing in your life, but nonetheless, it carries very little weight or sentimental value to me.

Today is my birthday, and I'm not excited... is that weird?? I decided I don’t like birthdays anymore because they're supposed to be this big special day, and then they come and its... well... same stuff, different day. I always want them to be special too, I look forward to them, and then the day always is a let down... hmmm is this weird? Oh well I have been trying to prepare myself for the day being horrible, just so I won’t be let down...

I don’t like the fact that people feel "obliged" to buy cards and presents instead of wanting to show someone you like them and/or care about them and/or want to please them. But I am happy to be healthy and alive with my family/friends.

Does anyone else not like birthdays or am I just peculiar?

Rant over.

I have read that one before Thorsten & always loved it!

Happy Birthday Kira, just enjoy your day, do all that you want and just be happy that you've got this far in life- I know many people who havn't & I'd give my right arm to see them back celebrating their next bday.

Reading through this again, I'm reminded of a piece I saw elsewhere by George Carlin -

'Next Life' by George Carlin

In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people's home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a goldwatch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!
I rest my case.'

Hi Kira,
Happy Birthday!
I felt the same way just two and a half weeks ago on my birthday... I thought it's just me, but now I see how many people share my feelings. I treated myself with a shopping spree, but it didn't really help...
You know, just look at a brighter side and enjoy your life with people who care !

Hi Kira,

Happy birthday! I did remember today was your birthday and I was thinking of sending you a birthday card or email but, in today's PC world, it might have been misconstrued .

Anyway, Happy Birthday! It looks like your mother's 'curse'/prediction has come to pass again. It's positively tropical here in Dublin.

Gerspics
is right, today is just a day. 18 or 21 is important. 21 is important
to me because I left Ireland the very next day!! But if you want the
day to go well, plan it yourself and take control!!  (Edit: it looks like you already took my advice with the Wii)
