That's very true. What really surprises me is the amount of times I've contacted models and they are all enthusiastic and delighted that I contacted them but then after a brief exchange of emails things just fizzle out. Don't know if it's the fact that they might have to travel a bit or get up particularly early in the morning or whatever, but it's only the very few that are really committed to putting some effort into the whole process. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if they expect everything to be handed to them on a plate! Thank goodness for sites like folio32; I think the models here have a genuine interest and commitment in what they are doing.
Used to be free for models and photographers but I guess they had too many idiots on there so they started charging photographers. There are different membership levels that you can sign up for. I had a free account once, but never used it (didn't really have any work that I felt was up to a reasonable standard). I recently signed up for Gold membership and will review whether or not it is worth keeping on in a few months time. To be honest, of all the sites out there, when it comes to finding new (or local) I've had most success to date with Net-Model, although the free subscription there is quite limiting and I have to check myself on a regular basis to see if there are any new models on it whereas with OMP I get email notifications of new models and travelling models.
There are at least two or three others coming over from the US and the UK over the coming weeks and months. Best thing for anyone interested would be to keep an eye open on OMP.
