There have been a couple of related posts lately, I'm just wondering how many members really would like critiques on their work, or would they rather have just praise? there are of course lots of great images that warrant just praise.
I for one welcome critique.

I also welcome critique.
I joined this site first and foremost to make contacts but also to improve my modelling abilities. I always look over what ever work I have done and look for things I can improve on, but sometimes when you've been so involved in something you don't see something than an unbiased outsider might!
I think people who don't like having their work critiqued will suffer in the future as, for me, it is an integral part of improving myself

No point in me stating the obvious. Or is there? Oh well, OK then, if I must. Critique away. Any image I post is fair game for critique. Heck, I'll even welcome critique from people who don't know what they are talking about, because at the end of the day, it's just an opinion and I think every opinion is a valid one. Whether it's right or not is a different matter, and I'll evaluate each one on its own merits. The only time I will delete comments is when they are directed at the model. If a model posts an image for critique, then please critique the modelling and not the photography. If a photographer posts an image for critique, do likewise and critique the photography, not the model. I know that often the two are inextricably linked, but it ought to be possible to limit the scope of one's critique to the work of the person posting the image. One other thing to bear in mind when critiquing poses is that in most cases the photographer will have directed the pose and the model will simply have followed that direction, possibly with some creative input from herself - just something to keep in mind if commenting on specific poses. - Thorsten.

Critique in my opinion is what keeps a person motivated in their work. For me I find if an individual receives constant praise, it makes them think that what they are doing is fine so continue doing just that and end up coming out with the same old' same old'.
A person cannot knows their faults unless pointed out.
As a model I want to know whats wrong with my pictures and obviously whats right.... if anything is. I can then take that critique and change what I am doing wrong without changing what was liked in the first place.
so I want people to leave comments on my pictures after they have read this!

For some reason a gap is appearing between the 4 and 5 at the end of the link. I dunno why and cant seem to edit it out. Just remember to close it when you paste the link into your address bar.

This isn't the first time we've had this exact conversation. Saying you want critique is fine, but it's not going to be the case across the board. That's why I think we need a forum where we can go say: Please critique this image. The image can be a normal gallery situation, but by having a central point where we can go check on who wants critique, and in what area, it takes away the fear of stepping on peoples toes.
And that's where the last post on this ended, right where I suggested we use a forum ;)

Pete, any critique I'd ask for would be image based. If someone thinks it's sh*te, so be it. You can't make everyone happy.. If someone starts making personal comments based on an image, then a line is crossed. I don't think there's any place for that here. Of course if they volunteer why they think it's so bad, then I probably wouldn't feel so bad about it. I'm as precious as anyone about my images, but I look back at older shots wondering what I was thinking... I've also been thinking about the forum thing, and posted a poll, pending admin approval, about whether or not to have one... I also thought it might be better to do the critiques in the forum, that way people can be confident about posting to the gallery. Anyway enough I I I I I I from me, I feel like Jim Diamond... or my mate Huey who talks only about himself..
(it's my turn to crawl into bed now!)
