Thorsten, where did you hear that limitiation? I've heard it refuted on a number of occasions. I heard that you can both use it for commercial purposes and upgrade it to a full version. I'll mail John Nack, hopefully he'll email back...

CS4 is now available. There'll be a trial for that shortly, which will reset the 30 day limit.

The Adobe Student Edition Programme states that "Adobe Student Edition software is for installation solely on private computers and for noncommercial purposes only."

I stand corrected on the upgrade - "The Student Edition can be upgraded to a commercial version."

Good idea with the CS4 upgrade trial version though.

I was fairly certain about that bit, just not the commercial bit. Thanks for the link!

I asked my ps lecturer and he suggested that utorrent thing..

I'm quite shocked to hear that. Aside from the potential risk of viruses which you have correctly pointed out, he is effectively condoning the use of illegal, pirated software!

Well he said "I can't actually download it for you but if you know anyone who uses utorrent for downloading music etc. you might be able to get it there!" But to be fair i probably put him in an awkward position by asking him if he knew the solution to extending my trial, if he hasn't heard of the student edition I guess it's the best he could come up with so don't hold it against him

It's feasible that he wasn't considering that you might actually buy it. If I were studying on a course that allowed it, I'd be buying it!
