Hi all, I don't know if any of you are experiencing this. I find that once my pictures have been uploaded to the folio site, they get pixelated quite badly. Does the server perform somekind of compression on the images while there are being uploaded? Images I've uploaded are usually 72dpi jpgs. Brought down resolution to decrease file size. Is there anyway I can prevent all this pixelation? Should I upload jpgs with higher dpi? thanks in advance for any advice. Sam

hi ya, I'm not sure if it has changed from the site had a revamp last week, but before the revamp, the site did a bad job of resizing the pics, pictures look best at max 500 pixels wide and 750 high, NOTE the 500 pixels width is the most critical. hope this helps. tim

This is an issue I've raised several times in the past and the powers that be have listened and provided and elegant solution, but one which few people seem to be aware off. First off, you should know that the site isn't actually resizing your images at all. All that's happening is that the site code is using the standard WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes of the IMG tag to constrain the dimensions of an image within certain parameters in order maintain the integrity of the page design. Fortunately the aspect ratio is maintained when this happens, but unfortunately it can give an image the "jaggies" particularly if the original image dimensions are not evenly divisible by the IMG tag attributes. Up until before the update was implemented, the only way around this was to resize the image yourself so that it would fit within the constraints mentioned above. But now you can pretty much post whatever size you want. You image will still be "squashed" into a little box, but viewers can now click on the image and it will open at the size you posted it at. This has been done by including the Lytebox class in the site code. It's a solution I am considering using on my own website as well. - Thorsten.

Thanks for the advice. Will need to consider the image dimensions before posting from now on.

I agree with sam, pics that look amazing on my desktop, decrease in colour and composition as soon as they are uploaded onto folio, even when i have the dimensions especially designed to fit folio standards, or just upload them as normal (as you no longer have to reduce them) either way they dont look the same!
