You don't need to defend yourself, it's clear Alicia pointed out one reason why the initial broad-sweeping comment didn't always apply so it was good that you added the "any girl who does TFP with her clothes on".

Still don't think it's true though, unless you also add in "any girl who does not wish to pursue a career or who does but makes sure SHE produces a model release so that the photographer can only use the images for private use/practice and not commercially once her image is sell-able" if that makes sense?

Oh dear, the sentence is getting quite long now isn't it? lol

To get answers.

My view was pretty straightforward in the first post.

Its not a TFP debate its a "value" debate.

You made a statement about time being the only thing a model would loose during a bad TFP. I replied by saying that i thought this was untrue as she can also be prone to having terrible (not nude) images in the public eye if she makes it big because of a bad TFP and I backed this statement up by using a personal reference, not one that happens to all but an example of one. So how is my answer not relevant to TFP?

I'm not looking for an argument either.. These forums are designed for healthy discussions and debates and that's exactly what I use them for. If people get offended by discussions like these then they shouldn't take part in them. I enjoy hearing other peoples views on matters like this and respect them, just like i except others to do with me.

To clear up the whole 'nude' debate, i wasn't saying that togs catching models in the nip with their cam was the only reason that models shouldn't partake in shoots with poor inexperienced amatuer togs, it just happened to be one of the many factors that would worry me because yes i do have nude work in my actual portfolio but i'd be equally concerned about headshots and so-called fashion shots that have been taken of me when i first started modeling by unreliable and flaky photographers. I've a few 'fashion' shots that are so tacky and hideous that if they appeared on the web or in the public nobody would want to know me! That's how bad they are.

On a point of information, could people please clarify what they mean when using the term professional!

I know of plenty of professional photographers whose work is appalling and would never suggest a model do a shoot with them, paid or TFP! To suggest that a model pays a professional photographer for a shoot in the expectation of guaranteed results is somewhat misleading, in my opinion.

I agree with that. When I think of a professional photographer though I think of Paul Crawford, Brendan, Gavin Millar- togs who are professional and professional because they ARE good hence why i used the professional term throughout my statements because that's what I automatically associate the word with but technically speaking my use of the word was incorrect.

Alicia

After this i am not saying any more on this thread ,Personally i cannot believe anyone showing a bad pic of u is going to destroy u career as a model , U have u port up which has nice pics that show u different sides looks etc.

if a chance of a job comes u show u best stuff the older bad stuff matters little (or if they are that bad maybe no one will recognise u).

Ok there are exceptions if u become a super model like Glenda or pippa and have a high profile boyfriend the papers may like to show crappy shots of u when u were young but it would be rare.

i may have taken this original idea of this blog off track what I mean is everyone starts somewhere and money is scarce when starting out and never ending there is always something new to buy for a tog I bought a Quantum Turbo, must get the 580 flash a new 2.8 28-80 lens and my buddy is selling his 1d2 for 1500 I must buy that he minded it like a baby.

I am not new to photography I have been at it since 1992 but have specialised in different areas.i hate people who do stuff for nothing.!!!
TFCD is not for nothing its barter. I actually took pics one time for Jackets sweat shirts shirts t shirts and baseball caps.

Alicia we will have to agree to dis-agree good luck with your modeling.

Ger

And the strangest thing no one agreed that digital photography photoshop and the net have made everyone a photographer all of a sudden.

professional photographer means their full time job their profession their career their job.
Professional does not mean good

I don't think it's fair for you to comment on what would happen to me personally when i've already stated that my full portfolio isn't on show on here so you can't make an accurate judgement. I have a full portfolio that ranges from portrait, topless to art-nude. I had a chance to go onto a TV show but choose not to because at this moment and time my career interests lie with being a glamour model- not a nude model. I have done topless and nude shoots with photographers which i didn't know at the time didn't have a clue what they were doing. It doesn't take a genuis to work out that if a girl wants to be a respectful glamour model and get on the cover of magazines that a naked picture of her in an uncompromising postion in a bedroom setting isn't going to go down in her favour. Again, it's not the nudity that's the main factor here it's the unprofessionalism and the seediness of it all. I'd get in the papers alright but certainly not for the right reasons!

Alicia

Apologies I do not wish to offend anyone should have said models not u ,   just saying that  all models have bad pics from their early shoots and maybe even later shoots.

Photographers take bad stuff I started in 84 85 but the stuff was so bad I took I stopped I saw a book with pics and thought i would love to take pics like this so I started again in 1992.

Everyone has bad pics togs and models but if one is going for a job one will always pic 12 or 20 of our strongest images and hope that will swing the job thats all I am saying.

Alicia if i was unfair to u sorry

good luck with the modeling

Ger
