Hi all,

Today i did what a lot of people have told me to do and that is try and sell my images.  As all my images are landscapes and local at that, I approached art shops, galleries and a major outdoor store in Belfast but without success (I may get a phone call from the outdoor store).  The galleries said they had too much stuff as it was and they weren't shifting it and I could try in a couple of months.  They didn't even look at my stuff.  So I feel very deflated!!

I was wondering if anyone else was having similar problems and how they overcame them?  Is it the 'credit crunch' thats affecting things?  Have I any hope of selling them?

I would appreciate advice on how to canvas/cold call at businesses or a, I better of building a website and taking it from there?

Thanks

Mike

some thoughts -

Dallasframes in belfast shore road will do you trade prices for bulk frames 20 or more I find them good value with a good selection of frames.

Do small sized images no larger than A4 and offer them to Bars, Restaurants and local shops in your area or near the landscapes.

Some places will showcase photographers and artists work with prices included.  They get cool images and a cut of each sale

Or alternatively try ebay and hit the .com site to reach out to the american market who should local Ireland lansdcapes ( far simplier option and one you can sell as prints or framed images).  Why not limit them to 500 prints and number each one sold that way you can market them as limited editions. Look at the shop option and build your own shop - Irish Landscape Prints or Emerald Isle Prints or something cliche

Now don't get me wrong, the photo's were landscapes and I don't do landscape but the guy couldn't understand why I wouldn't at the very least display them in the small gallery / waiting area I have.

It wasn't me, honest.
