Do yous feel that there should be a section in the Gallery for images which you do not want comments left?

It may be that you are a beginner and are afraid to post in case your image gets torn apart.

It may be an image that was a commissioned job either a wedding or portrait and you are worried your client would be upset with some constructive criticism?

i think this would be a good idea, i agree that there may be some members that would prefer to post their pictures without having coments on them.  i think the option should be given when the pictures are being uploaded, if you want the comment section to be available to other viewers etc.

i personally wouldn't use it, as a very amature photographer i prefer to get feedback on my pics, to help me develope my photography further etc  (thanks again jim) but it would be an option worth adding

I think if you decide to post an image here or on any forum then you must accept the fact that it may generate critique and comments. If you're not comfortable with that then don't post the image. If you believe in your work (style and content) then the courage of your convictions ought to be enough for you not to be offended by someone else's comments, regardless of whether they know what they are talking about or not. The one exception is where comments are left as a personal attack on either a photographer or a model featured in an image. This is completely unacceptable, IMHO, no matter how justified it may be

I agree too, but
there are also basic manners to consider. If an image is obviously an
image for a client eg. A commercial shoot with a business name, a
wedding or a family shot then it would be nice to remember that these
images may be seen by the client or potential clients.

Yet again
I know that there is the option not to post these images but there are
photographers on this site who mainly photograph paid jobs and it's
inevitable that these shots will appear on their profiles.

Perhaps I'm being naive here, or just showing alack of good judgement, but I would never put a clients image on a forum anywhere without first checking with them that it is OK to do so. I would have thought that even putting such images on ones own website would require some form of consent from the client. Perhaps that's a given in the context of this thread but it wasn't clear to me that this was indeed the case. I'm sure there must be clients out there that would rather not see their images next to a gorgeous scantily clad model as might be the case in the gallery here.

The point was not that the image was posted but that a comment placed about an image, which is an opinion at the end of the day, may damage the integerity of a Photographer professionaly.

Surely if that's the case, then the professional photographer ought to have the common sense, foresight and experience to consider the implications of their actions and refrain from posting an image that has the potential to damage their (or their clients) reputation whether directly or indirectly.

Hi

In your profile you have the option of setting your folio32 page to private to only allow your friends list to view it - alternatively you can set it that only your friends list can post comments anywhere on your page - including the gallery

To set this go to  MY ACCOUNTSETTINGS / ACCOUNT SETTINGS and then check the relevant box under Privacy settings.

Might be a way around it until I work out an alternative!

Cheers

Paul
