Oh! Are you saying that this person posted the same comment on your Bebo profile? I didn't see it there, but on another Bebo profile.

Its on a bebo band profile that I am a band member of so it means that I can edit the profile and delete anything such as comments that I don't think are appropriate.

Normally I wouldn't do that but I felt that this occasion merited it.

Favourite model??! Stop you'll give me a big head!

i would agree with the stricter sign-up rules such as example shots on applying etc,  but to also include maybe a reference from either a tog or model that is already a member of the site.

it wont and cant be a reference from any member (i ould hardly give a reference that would mean anything to anyone one on here as i have only met a few of the site members at the minute), but some of the longer registered and better known members could give references to admin when a model/tog signs up for approval.

this is also a good way of age verification on any new members, as they would be known by existing members who could confirm it etc.

unfortunatly i think the damage has been done also, although i have never seen any further mention of folio on bebo but it will not be long im sure until the underage members we are refering to in this have passed it onto their friends etc etc.

on a good note thought, the younger generation of today have such an attitude that they will more than likely stop using the site when they see that no one is interested in helping them or working with them, and they will get bored and leave for good.

I totally agree with all that has been written so far. I have refrained from putting pictures on the gallery  for all of the reasons already stated.  There has been some very good works posted , but unfortunately they are quickly lost within a very short time [Minutes in some cases] among a load of complete rubbish, animals, babies, kids parties etc, all of which are of no intrest except to the imature of Bebo or whatever.  I don't know how this could be avoided but it never seemed to happen on the old IMAP which I sorely miss.

I think this may be a reason why so few photos receive comments as it is a hassle to trawl through so much of this rubbish to find the good ones, I now just make a quick flick and then leave the gallery in discust.

I'm going to be blunt here and I apologise in advance if it upsets anyone. But not posting images because of some misguided belief that your images are too good to appear here is a stupid reason not to post images and here's why. The more quality images are posted, the lower the percentage of dross becomes. If you post one good image and some else posts a crap bebo type image (no offence to bebo users) then that's 50% rubbish in the gallery. But if you now posted a second good image, the amount of rubbish has now gone down to 33%. If everybody took the attitude that they won't post here because their work is too good for this site, then we would have nothing but a site full of rubbish images and we might as well all give up at that stage.

What we really need to do is start posting a lot more good images, thereby swamping the bad images into non-existence. And besides, if you really feel strongly about an image that it shouldn't be here, you simply report it to the mods.

The site won't just succeed on it's own. It's the members that make or break the site. I'd love to post a lot more images but I'm just not producing the volume of material that I would like to produce. You guys in the north seem to be spoiled for choice (models and photographers). But there are very few models or photographers from the south here. I'm going to stick with it though, because it is an all Ireland site and I've made some great new friends through it and it's predecessor, IMAP.

So let's all stop this negative thinking and put some positive vibes into this site please!

Thornston.   I never implied that my images were too good to post, you have jumped to completely the wrong conclusion so much so to almost become offensive to me. I too do not have the volume of pictures that others would have to post.  The reason I have not posted was I was concerned that the pictures of my model would be copied and put in some unsavoury way in places like Bebo and this would reflect unfavourably on her and in return on me.

Very interesting thread! Clearly, several issues have been raised that many people feel strongly about. It seems that for the most part there is consensus amongst those who posted here.

Colin, I apologise if I offended or otherwise upset you. I was aware that my post might have had that effect, but I wanted to make the point very strongly that we have it within our grasp not to let an issue like this get the better of us. I hadn't thought about the fact that someone would take your images and post them on Bebo. Frankly, I didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to do that because that would be a breach of copyright and is nothing more than theft, which I'm sure even the folks running Bebo would be quick to nip in the bud (maybe I'm being naive) . It's a fact of life that we must all face that when you put your images on the internet they are at risk of being stolen. There's not a lot we can do about it, other than placing a written copyright notice on an image, which if removed makes the crime worse again.

Once again, my apologies for upsetting you. Unfortunately, when I feel strongly about something, I don't always express myself as eloquently as I ought to and invariably step on a few toes in the process.

i'm only trawling through the forums now (this was started before i joined and i found the site through webmodels and then asked Leanne!)

i think maybe, to prove age, people should take a picture of their passport (it would give us all a giggle too, mine's awful!) post it in a forum, and someone fdo the calculations.

most 14/15 year olds see things in magazines and probably think its filled with money and royalties. they dont relaise the work. it's just some fad they're interested in for a wee half an hour.

as for a bebo fiend myself, i never saw anything mentioned on any sites. looks like i have some browsing to do haha.

as for the 'girlfriend boyfriend' shots, I fall victim, there is one of myself and Glenn in my gallery. it was taken by Art Ward however, and it's because i love the background in it. so it is professionally done.

i don't think some 14/15 aren't mature enough to make the decision. i know i know im still wee, im only 18, but there 4 years difference there, and i know how to stand on my own two feet. i was just born late lol.
