Irelands Next Top Model controversy
Posted On 11/06/2008 13:58:08 by ThorstenM

Interesting discussion right now on RTE's Joe Duffy show regarding Eiremodels and Ireland Next Top Model event. Worth tuning in to. Seems like all is not as it should be (no surprises there, to be honest, especially when EUR 300 is involved!)

Hi guys,

I happen to be one of the unfortuante ones who fell for Ireland's Next Top Model which has turned out to be a complete scam.  I am disgusted with everything that has happened he thought he was very clever but obviously not clever enough.  Luckily for me I happen to work in a Solicitors office and iv already told Eiremodels if i do not get back my €300 i am suing them to high heaven, there were girls there as young as 15 €300 might not be a lot to adults who work but to children and their parents it is a lot, it's also not exactly the money issue its the fact that we believed what they were saying and they decepted us and gave us false hope.

I have always wanted to do modelling since i was young and I always said I would wait until i finised college which i have done iv just completed my BA Law Degree and while I have something to fall back on other girls might not and their confidence has been damaged over this and also the humiliation im sure a lot of girls had told family members about the competition and the thoughts of being on tv.

But i hope this doesn't turn girls off acheiving their goals and dreams and what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger.

There are so many people out there (not referring to this particular event issue but generically speaking) willing to abuse people's ambitions and dreams with the priority of fattening their own wallets or for their own self promotion.

How many girls have been lured by promises and gloss. It really pis**s me off when I hear and read about this.  Its hard enough for young models both male and female trying to get a step into the industry, let alone having to run the guantlet of chancers and rip off merchants!!

And then there is the dubious selection process.....

Not the TV, but on the radio (and online on RTE1 website linked above).

I'm not surprised that JD is giving him a hard time. With a spokesperson from TV3 on as well as the Patent Office and Larry Bass of Shinawil Productions all denying they have never had any contact with the organisation concerned, it sounds like he's up to his neck in it!
