It would appear that a Canon EOS 5D MkII is not too far away. It's listed in the list of available cameras on the Phase One bug report form This would be in keeping with an expected early 2008 release. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I can't imagine Canon rushing this out before Christmas in spite of the pressure they might be under. They already screwed up once with the 1D MkIII focus problem and I'm sure that's not something they want to repeat so soon again. I really can't see the new Nikon releases being a real threat anyway. I mean, how many people are going to sell their investment in Canon glass to switch to Nikon when everybody knows that within 6-12 months Canon will have something better out (and 6-12 months after that Nikon will have something better out, etc., etc.).
