My excuses
Posted On 02/07/2008 16:35:20

I'm supposed to have a shoot with Kim Bale tomorrow.

Now anyone that's seen me knows I'm ... .err.. fat. But, I've been going to the gym to try and loose weight. On Mon I did some bench press work, along with my normal bike/cross trainer/threadmill and stomach routines.

Unfortunately I can hardly bend my arms now.. So I've had to cancel the shoot. It sounds like a really bad excuse though! I can type okay 'cos it doesn't require tight arm bending!

I'm also going to the Saltess Saturday, so hopefully I'm a bit better by then :(

A cool vid for togs and models

My boss at lightroom-news is well known hair and beauty photographer Martin Evening..

George Jardine from Adobe shot a video of the Lightroom 2 book shoot and you get to see Martin and his models at work... it's great!

It's also worth getting the large version.

Lapse and time lapse
Posted On 20/05/2008 03:55:42

I've been in Mallorca for a few days... it wasn't really a holiday, but I did get some afternoon drinking in ;)

I was there shooting timelapes. More info at http://lightroom-blog.com/2008/05/panning-timelapse-using-lightroom.html

in the meantime check out: http://vimeo.com/1023202 to see one of them. I've a few more to upload as I get finished. I'll also be doing more of these locally soon.

I did try and hook up with models there, but no joy.

Sean.

Taking a beating...
Posted On 03/05/2008 03:17:12

Ouch. I just got back last months results in the SWPP monthly competition.. Mostly Bronze, 1 Silver and 2 U(nacceptable). 1 U is from a star trail that looks like 2 images tacked together, and the other is a style thing. ie they don't like mine ;)

On looking at the Golds, I'd better go for much more blur and soft focus next month.

No Luck
Posted On 26/04/2008 05:36:42

Sheesh. I really have no luck with gear...

I pulled my new Canon G9 out of my pocket after tonights gig to shoot some snaps of my mates and discovered the LCD was smashed. Oddly the glass back was perfect...

I'm nearly used to this happening at this stage so I didn't get mad. Just made the plans to send it for repair..

I'll add this to the list where my 20D broke the day I got it. Even after it was returned, it wasn't right. So away it went again. My 2 week old 400D took a leap for freedom from my tripod into a river (it survived). My 20D died of abuse and I was forced to get the 30D.. 3 weeks before the 40D was announced.

Of course, then there was the road trip all through Europe where at the end my laptop and Epson P2000 with the backup photos were stolen...

I should really just start burning money instead...

Back again
Posted On 16/04/2008 04:15:11
Phew. It's 4:10am and I figured I better drop in for a look. I've been up to my eyes with stuff recently and have had no time to pop by:
  • Lightroom Beta 2 stuff is keeping me busy.
  • Reworking and adding to what I've already written for my Lightroom book.
  • Tech editing another Lightroom book
  • Shooting a whole bunch for portfolio, book and competition.
  • Speaking of competition, I've got 4 gold from the SWPP in the last 2 months. I'll be back to not getting this month I guess
  • And speaking of the SWPP, I've a Lightroom article to do for them.
  • I've been doing a lot of late nights learning Flash to create new (hopefully for sale) Web Galleries for Lightroom.

  • A few of us here, including Trevor and Glen had a Strobist meetup at the end of last month. It was good fun and we'll do it again. It's a great way to learn and everything is done TFCD. Both models and photographers gained from the experience. Part of what I liked about it is the location factor. I'm really enjoying shooting away from studio. With luck I should have more stuff posted up as time allows. No rest for the wicked.
