Does anyone use the live chat area?
Do people visit it when they come on Folio or not?

I know folio is a photographer/model site but tens of thousands of shots were taken of Mitch Mitchell performing, including one of my own.
Mitch Mitchell was the drummer and last surviving member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, He died in the early hours, in a hotel room in Portland while gigging, aged 62.
Mitch played with bands such as The Tornadoes, The Riot Squad, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, The Pretty Things, Jim Hendrix Experience, Jack Bruce and Jim Capaldi to name a few.

How much is a model worth? and likewise how much is a photographer worth? But as I am a photographer I am going with the first question.
Howm Much is a model worth?
Well, first I guess how much you are willing to pay for a certainly look or aura.
Here in Ireland and for promotional work only. I think a model who has several shoots under her belt and is really getting into the groove of posing, needs minimum direction, comes prepared and is creatively into the shoot: Portraiture/Casual/Fashion: £15 Lingerie/impled: £25 Topless: £35 plus travel expenses and subsistence. I dont really think art nude comes in at this level of experience.
I base that on working with models in the UK and France who have a flat rate fee per hour which covers all those styles.

This is probably another blog into oblivion about model rates but I personally would really appreciate it if models who are actively seeking paid work would put their current rates/styles on their profiles and/or websites. I know part of any shoot is communications but before I enter into communications I would really like to know what the cost of hiring a model is going to be, even a ball park figure would suffice. A shoot to me is more than just a model, it involves studio costs, mua costs, travel and subsidiaries like insurance, food, etc,. Why do working models not display their rates? Like is it a secret or what? Most photographers do not select on price but a combination of factors, model cost being only one of them and not the most important by a long shot but still part of the equation. I am constantly seeing blogs from models 'looking for work', offering ‘good rates’ and ‘availability’. So why not put your rates on your profile, you can change them whenever you want. And it would save time and stop 'hope of work' being dashed. I really am fed up emailing to ask rates, it takes precious time that could be spent planning a shoot.
I would be interested in what others thought about this both models and photographers.

I am coming to the conculsion that the Featured Gallery which has fabulous work in it, is unbalanced in reflecting the essence of this sites aim.
'a community for photographers, models, studios, agents and all those associated with photography'
As pointed out by another member in another blog, of the last 120 images posted in the featured gallery, which is the default for non members, 7 or 8 are of a different subject matter.
There are many photographers on here who do varied work including editorial, abstracts, landscape, wedding, advertising, etc,. Most photographers I know cover a variety of subject, specialise in one but are good in many.
If Folio is truly representing this 'community' then why not reflect them in the featured gallery in a balanced way.
Also it is not encouraging for other photographers who maybe are not focused on female model work, when they arrive at the default gallery to find if full of model work.

Can anyone give me a lead for high quaility, large format, exhibition printing in the North. (Not for billboards but for viewing close)
Looking Lightjet quality or equivalent: Sizes Vary from .6m x 1.2m up to 1.2m x 2.5m. (six pieces) Finished with scratch resistent laminate and bonded to fire retardent MDF.
I had work done here a couple of years ago on a lightjet 430 which I was happy with but technology moves on and new businesses emerge. I do know of Iris and Black Sheep but would like to know if there are any other services in the north who offer high quality in both print and customer service.
Quality and client service are priority.

Back for a few months, I have re-opened the studio for commercial work as required. Will also undertake paid portraiture and portfolio paid (good rates) and I might consider one or two tfcds between now and January. MUA provided for all studio work.
Located on the north coast, so if its dry I have easy acces to some good locations.

I am probably missing something obvious here but does anyone know how to get rid of the bulletin board in your profile page. I have bulletins from last year there and they just come in without requesting. Is there a way to turn this off.??
