I hate the sun!!!
Posted On: 02/06/2008 01:10:17

Weird I know, but we all know the vicious circle. Complain when it rains, complain about the heat when it's sunny. Now we all know it was a scorcher yesterday here so I took it upon myself to play hockey in the blistering heat for 5 hours.

Now I'm sitting here, unable to sleep because I have more or less third degree burns on my face and blisters on my nose and still a touch of sunstroke. And before I get the learn your lesson, wear sunscreen, the horrible thing is, I did :( I didn't get a chance to reapply it after I had wiped it all off as I was absolutely pouring with sweat.

How did everyone else enjoy the sun yesterday? Anyone else thinking of taking out shares in Calamine lotion, or am I the only one who has exceedingly fair skin and can't look at a picture of the sun without burning a bit?

LOL Poor you Cathy. Though I just don't get it when people complain about the sun. I LOVE IT, I'm not one for lying sunbathing all day but the slightest hint of warmth & I'm out in my hotpants walking the dog, washing my car, doing my exercises in the garden. It's great. We're just not used to it so we don't think we will get so burnt. They say the sun here is so much easier to burn in than abroad, even if it's not as warm. Not quite sure why- I just read it once haha.

Unfortunately I promised my granny i'd take her shopping on Sat so had to keep my promise & didn't see much of the sun. Must admit tho, it was a very quick shop poor granny!

I've never liked hot sunny days - ask my family, I'm always moaning when we have to take a trip to the beach. There's nothing more boring than lying on the beach or out in the garden trying to get skin cancer! And photographically, I don't like hot sunny days either.

The harsh light is the worst you can work in and it's a pain to have to be constantly seeking out locations with open shade. Having said that, it is a distinct advantage for an outdoor lingerie, bikini or nude shoot. Trouble then is I don't have any assistants to help me set up a bunch of scrims and reflectors to make the light just right - you just can't win!

I think we had that floating about the house a few years ago, it's in a navy and gold box? If this weather keeps up I'll be straight down to boots.

Art, at least you kept your dignity by getting burnt abroad :( the skin's already coming off on the blisters, but it's totally raw underneath and it's stinging like mad! Sleep is out of the question and my legs look like those milkshake chew bottles from where my socks and shorts were, it's just the bit in the middle.

I know the feeling Cathy....I did the same on an overcast day in Java. Thought it would be okay as the sun was well diffused. I was wearing a long sleeve surf top that covered my arms, fortunately.   Came in after an hour and half of blissful waves and the burning feeling started....lost the skin on my scalp, nose and forehead....back of neck and legs burnt painfully plus a touch of sunstroke.  Could not believe how burnt I got on an overcast day.

I was sore for days, I could not let anything touch my legs, neck...or head....very painful.

The only consolation is it will ease off....and then the skin is shed.
