My excuses
Posted On: 02/07/2008 16:35:20

I'm supposed to have a shoot with Kim Bale tomorrow.

Now anyone that's seen me knows I'm ... .err.. fat. But, I've been going to the gym to try and loose weight. On Mon I did some bench press work, along with my normal bike/cross trainer/threadmill and stomach routines.

Unfortunately I can hardly bend my arms now.. So I've had to cancel the shoot. It sounds like a really bad excuse though! I can type okay 'cos it doesn't require tight arm bending!

I'm also going to the Saltess Saturday, so hopefully I'm a bit better by then :(

Well, it's nearly a week later and I still only have about 60% motion without pain... F*ck me it hurts when I bend it too far.  Can't even scratch my face.. At least my right hand is almost back to normal... I'll be glad when I can get rid of the stench of Deep Heat...

I'll post from todays shoot later...I was so pissed off about canceling the other shoot I had to squeeze another one in today. And I even used the G9 for some of it!

Saltees is now cancelled due to the weather.. :(

I'm glad to hear I'm a sad git when 4 days on, I still have only about 50% motion in my arm.... Shows some people here don't know the difference between normal wear and tear and injury and I can only wish it on them ..

Not you Michael.. I know you've been there!!!

Anyhow, off to the gym I go..

Yes I will, lol  3rd dan!!!, not bad for an old dog like me. Can still get my foot sooooooo high it needs oxygen when it gets there

Seriously, take it easy for now and allow a little time for recovery before trying bi curls in anger. Hot baths or very hot water bottles will help a little and rest, rest, rest seriously. if its any consilation I had  similar incident with my abs a while back and couldnt move for a week, (at all) couldnt sit, lay down and forget walking so know only too well what it feels like, so you have my sympathy(ish).

Joking aside, good for you for getting yourself fit, it isnt easy and hats off to you for doing it.

Oh.. I have a nice hot bath planned... it's such a luxury these days..

Ouch, sounds like your foot was trying to sprout a fin to help you swim. Did you ever find out what caused such an injury.

Speaking of which, did I ever tell you about the time when I... nah, only joking ;-)

Maybe swimming is just what you need to do now to help you get those muscles recovered.

Ha Michael.. will ya still think that when I'm 3 stone lighter and rippling with muscle..

I'm not much of a runner myself Thorsten. I cut the bottom of my foot swimming as a young lad. The whole muscle and skin were flapping back and forth in the water. The guy that pulled me out went from 'you're okay, you're okay' to 'OMFG' when he saw it. Blood everywhere... The foot still cramps easily 26 years later...

Sean, fair point about the running, although I was never much of a runner due to my asthma risk (which fopr some reason is not as prevalent when I'm cycling). And since tearing ligaments in my left ankle a few years ago, running has become even less attractive to me as an option. Just imagine the sight of me running along with a distinct hobble (is that a word?). Again, not a pretty picture, LOL.
