Yep ! A perfect merging of elements.

To my left, reasonably high, maybe slightly more than 45º away (but not much more). I did also have a diagonally opposite rimlight , but I really thought I needed more shadow because I wanted the loop on the shadow side of the face. BG is a bare Portaflash with red gel (they might be cheap and cheerful, but they work well for hairlight and back light until I'm making a lot more money!

Key is the D-Lite 4 with the larger softbox (the 65cm one).

For this shoot I had 2 models and 5 looks for the make up artist, Aisling Kelly from Mac@Brown Thomas. I've been too busy to work through them, but I'll have a bunch more to post when I do.

great image that i absolutely love. Well done model and tog. Key light looks to me as if it was slightly to the photographers left and quite close to the model.

Putting my prejudice against red aside (I'm just seeing far too much of it lately) I have to say I really like this. For anyone that's viewing this but hasn't bothered looking at it full size, shame on you!

Would I be correct in saying that you pointed the key-light directly at the subject?
